Neo-COMSTRIP 978

Comstrip 978 is an acid activated solvent for paint stripping by component immersion. It is based on chlorinated solvents and contains inorganic acids, detergents and wax evaporation retarders.

This paint stripping formulation contains a wax additive that, once applied, will harden and form a barrier between the paint stripper and the surrounding air. This wax barrier reduces evaporation of dichloromethane from the paint stripper and should be left undisturbed until enough contact time between the surface and the paint stripper has elapsed.  In tank use it reduces significantly the evaporation of the dichloromethane

This product is specially formulated to strip the more difficult highly polymerised coatings such as heavy plant components and alloy wheels etc.

For the Wheel industry we now elevate the amount of Hydrofluoric Acid in the solution to ensure that it will remove the 4 coat system used on some wheels. The action is fast and you may see some of the finish beginning to dissolve in the vapour close to the surface of the solution before it actually goes in.

Comstrip 978 is designed for use in soak tanks and contains additives, which act as a seal to minimise solvent evaporation. The product finds wide spread application in paint shops and the reconditioning industries.

Comstrip 978 is suitable for use on all metals other than zinc alloys, which will be slightly etched and magnesium, which will be more seriously affected.

Rapidly penetrates and strips difficult paint films

Contains a wax seal

Solvent evaporation is minimised, vapour levels and solvent loss are Reduced.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Comstrip 978 will produce harmful vapours, care should be taken to ensure adequate ventilation of areas where the product is to be used. Comstrip 978 is used as supplied and should not be heated or agitated. P.V.D.F. (polyvinylidene fluoride) storage or process tanks are recommended. Components should be immersed until the component surface is wrinkled or flaked. Immersion times will vary according to the type of finish and number of coats. In order to extend the solution life it is advisable to avoid contamination with water and to include a sludge tray in the tank design. The sludge tank will enable periodic removal of paint skins.
