These kits are designed to provide a professional zinc/
Copy Cad finish to a variety of substrates on small components such
as workshop
tools, brake boosters, brackets, nuts and bolts, spindles and zinc alloy
castings including carburettor castings.
Zinc plating is a most valuable tool when used in
combating corrosion of steel. The zinc corrodes before the steel does,
sacrificing itself for the benefit of the steel. A metallurgical bond is
formed between the zinc and steel forming an iron rich alloy with
tenacious bond. Plating can be left unpainted where it will form its
own protective oxide layer.
The kit comes with an Abrasive Nylox wheel, which provides a
'flat' finish to the metal for Copy Cad.

A small A/C adapter can be supplied for each kit. This will plate up to 12 - 15 sq” of surface area. Larger items will need alternative power supply You need to plate at a rate of 0.12 to 0.17 amps per sq” of surface area @ 0.8 to 1.5 volts. |

IRIDESCENT YELLOW CHROMATE: (click for more information) After preparing the part to accept the process, the part is simply dipped into a solution for a few minutes. The zinc & the chromate react to form the new colours. To improve those older zinc (pot metal) castings, plate with a fresh zinc plate before chromating. Steel parts that have been previously plated with zinc can be chromated with no further pre-treatment. Zinc alloy die cast parts may be surface activated by immersion in a weak acid. The Zinc & Copy Cad Blackener (click here for information) provides a deep black finish, similar to a Black Oxide, but with much better corrosion resistance. It does however add to dimensional thickness.

Caswell Blue Chromate (click for information) Our blue chromate concentrate produces a true blue conversion coating on zinc plated items. It is a single dip blue trivalent chromate that offers high salt spray resistance for up to 130 hours to white rust corrosion, and 160-200 hours to red rust corrosion.
