Mild Steel Blackener 5 Litre

Surface Monkey Mild Steel Blackener (previously known as Caswell Europe Black Oxide) is an easy to use chemical that easily blackens steel, cast iron and hardened tool steel at just above room temperature. Once blackened, the finished metal items remain corrosion-free.

Immerse parts in the concentrate or diluted solution 1 part mild steel blackener to 3 parts distilled water.

Ensure all metal parts are clean and free of grease, oil and paint and that the ambient temperature is between 27 and 30 degrees Celsius.

Immerse parts in the concentrate or diluted solution and swirl around for between 30 seconds and 5 minutes. Alternatively, parts may simply be soaked in the solution for 5 to 10 minutes.

Remove parts from the solution and rinse in fresh water.

Immediately apply Surface Monkey Black Beeswax or dip in Surface Monkey Metal Sealer and allow to soak for 5-10 minutes. Shake off any excess and allow to dry thoroughly before handling.
